The National Advanced School of Engineering (Ecole Nationale Supérieure Polytechnique), one of the Schools of the University of Yaoundé I, Cameroon was created on the 4th of June 1971 in order to train the technical staff of Cameroon. Two types of training had been implemented at that moment: a short term training of three (3) years, and a long term training of five (5) years sanctioned by a diploma of engineer. Since 1991, in order to improve its curricula in comparison with other schools of engineering, the National Advanced School of Engineering kept only the long term training. Since 1999, the school opened a doctoral course in engineering for a term of four (4) years. The basic Training is divided between two cycles. The first cycle is a cycle of common trunk of a period of 2 years, provides students with a basic education in mathematics, physical sciences, computer science and engineering sciences. The second cycle with a duration of three years, form in the following specialities:

  • Civil Engineering,
  • Mechanical and Industrial engineering
  • Computer engineering
  • Electrical and Telecommunication engineering.

The school also offers a Master in statistics training for two years, and a Telecommunication Master in distance learning. For several years, the School welcomes nationals of Chad, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Rwanda, Benin and remains open to other countries of the sub regional and Africa as a whole. The school has the following human resources: 80 Permanent researchers’ teachers, 25 non-permanent researchers teachers, 80 PhD students.
